MarijuanaElsewhere mentioned in the same chapter on marijuana. Smoking one marijuana cigarette can be equivalent to smoking 16 cigarettes. Page 478. Handbook of Abusable Drugs, by Kenneth Blum, Ph.D., D.A.C.A.C.D. and Jay Holder, DC, MD, Ph.D. So, at least in California's population of 30 million+, the traditional medical community is supporting its usage for chemotherapy related anti-nausea. As chiropractor Dr. David Miller of Walnut Creek, California reminds me it is: "Marijuana has been used to some good effect by certain elements of the medical community to stimulate the appetite and reduce nausea in patients receiving chemotherapy for cancer. Often the stomach upset and the natural progression of the disease can leave a person mal-nourished, leading to the cachexia and emaciation common in cancer patients. Unfortunately, the urine PH of cancer victims has been shown to be consistently low. Low PH means an acid condition of the body. An acid condition of the body is accompanied by a lower than optimal Pulse Ox level. Raising the O2 levels of the body tends to increase the urine PH. Smoking marijuana, by virtue of the CO2 and other acid gasses displacing O2 in the alveoli contributes to a lower Pulse Ox level, and thus a lower urine PH which as I stated is one of the conditions consistently found with cancer in the body. It would not be a stretch to say that smoking marijuana contributes to conditions in the body which are conducive to cancer. There are other ways to achieve the therapeutic benefits of Cannabis, but smoking it is not one of them."
